When system is used with an external keyboard and mouse, with external monitor attached to system VGA port or VGA or DVI port on Advanced minidock or Advanced Dock, the screen resolution of a ThinkPad with NVIDIA graphics may change when the lid is closed. This occurs because the NVIDIA graphics subsystem recognizes a "state change" when the lid is closed and switches to the default graphics resolution on the external monitor.

The following ThinkPad systems with nVIDIA Graphics running Microsoft Windows Vista or XP maybe affected by this symptom:

• ThinkPad R61 (MT: 7742; 7743; 7744; 7751; 7753; 7754; 7755; 8914; 8918; 8919; 8920; 8927; 8928; 8929) , R61i (MT: 7742; 8918)
• ThinkPad T61, T61p

When Presentation Director 4.01 is installed, the same scheme used when the lid is open should be applied again when the lid is closed. Open Presentation Director from the Start menu and a window with all the display schemes will appear. Choose the scheme that matches the resolution you want to use (or create a new one) and press the Apply button immediately below the box with display scheme names. Once the scheme is applied in both states (lid open and lid closed), the resolution will not changed when the lid is opened or closed.
