Lotus SmartSuite will not install and generates error codes midway through the install. The error codes are:

• 1401 - cannot create key
• 1406 - cannot write InfFile name to key

The listed errors will be generated if Microsoft Office is installed prior to the SmartSuite install.

Install Microsoft Office after Lotus SmartSuite has been installed. If Office was pre-installed, then search www.lotus.com/support for the two listed error codes. There are 2 Technotes from Lotus that listed detailed instructions on resolving this issue. The resolution does involve registry editing.
