No audio signal from DisplayPort - ThinkCentre M58, M58p
Symptom
No audio signal available over integrated DisplayPort. Additionally, certain televisions or monitors may disable analog audio input when the M58/M58p DisplayPort or a DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI adapter is attached.
Affected configurations
Any of the following systems but not limited to the following systems:
ThinkCentre M58 (all models)
ThinkCentre M58p (all models)
Applies to:
Microsoft Windows 7
Microsoft Windows Vista
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Note: The system's video is configured to use the DisplayPort.
Solution
None. Do not replace any hardware for this issue.
Limitation
M58/M58p does not support audio over DisplayPort.
Workaround
In some cases, users can connect to DisplayPort for video and separately connect to analog audio out (PC line-out on front/rear IO port) for sound.
In cases where the television or monitor disables audio when connected via DisplayPort (as well as through DisplayPort to HDMI/DVI adapter), it is recommended to use VGA for video when available.
