Power
AC Adapter
  • AC adapter: This ac-to-dc converter supplies the necessary power to the computer. The ac adapter also charges the battery pack when it is installed in the computer.
  • Universal AC adapter (65W):
    • Input is 100/240V ac, 50/60Hz
    • Output is 20V dc
Battery

The battery pack is an internal power source to the computer when the ac adapter is not available. The battery pack is rechargeable and is charged using the ac adapter with the system.

  • Four cell Li-Ion battery pack: 234g (0.52lb)
  • Eight cell Li-Ion battery pack: 455g (1.00lb)
  • Li-Ion battery pack:
    • 14.4V, 2.0Ah, 4 cell battery
    • 14.4V, 4.55Ah, 8 cell battery

Battery life (and recharge times) varies based on many factors including screen brightness, applications, features, power management, battery conditioning, and other customer preferences. Recharge time also varies depending on system mode. Charging times vary depending on operating conditions. Battery may not charge fully during heavy loading.

Security
System
  • Security chip (TCPA/Crypt 3) on selected models
  • Locking device in the security slot provides physical security.
  • Fingerprint reader on selected models, offers users a convenient solution, authenticate at system startup and log on to Windows with a swipe of your finger.
Password
  • A Power-on password (POP) protects the system from unauthorized use. If a POP is set, the password prompt appears:
    • Each time the system is turned on
    • When the system is returned to normal operation from suspend mode
  • A Supervisor Password provides a higher level of security than the POP. The Supervisor Password protects the system functions from being used by unauthorized users, and protects the hardware configuration from unauthorized modification.
  • A Hard Drive Password (HDP) protects hard drive data from unauthorized users. Once HDP is set, data on the hard drive cannot be accessed without the correct HDP. Because the HDP is stored in the hard drive, the data remains protected even if the hard drive is removed to another system. The HDP password prompt appears:
    • Each time the system is turned on

Software
Operating system
The following operating systems are supported on the ThinkPad X61 Tablet systems:
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Business 32-bit and 64-bit
  • Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit
  • Microsoft Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005
Note: Preloaded software utilizes the disk-to-disk recovery method.

Storage
Optical drive
  • Available using USB or X6 Tablet UltraBase
Floppy drive
  • Available using USB or X6 Tablet UltraBase
Hard drive features
  • Standard with 60GB (5400rpm or 7200rpm), 80GB (5400rpm), 100GB (7200rpm), 120GB (5400rpm), or 160GB (5400 rpm) sizes
  • Supports one additional hard drive which can be used concurrently to offer expanded storage
  • S.M.A.R.T. Technology to issue an alert if a hardware failure is pending
  • SATA Bus Interface
  • Although you can upgrade the hard drive, it is not designed to be removed and reinserted on a regular basis. Repeated and frequent removal, for purposes other than to upgrade for greater capacity, can cause damage to the system. The Ultrabay slim hard drive adapter is designed to provide this flexibility with a second hard drive in the Ultrabay slim slot in the X6 Tablet UltraBase.
