This package provides the Wireless LAN driver, Utility Software for the following Wireless LAN adapters for Microsoft Windows 98 SE and NT 4.0.

- IBM 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter

This release supports the following systems:

- ThinkPad T40, T41, T42, T43 (*1)
- ThinkPad X31, X32 (*1), X40 (*1)

Notes:
- (*1) Only Windows NT 4.0 is supported.

Installation instructions for Windows 98SE
  1. Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) is prerequisite. If your computer do not have WMI installed, go to Microsoft's web site and down load the latest WMI and install it first.
  2. Run Setup.exe and follow the instructions.

Installation and removal information for Windows NT
Note: See the README file for unattended installation instructions.

Driver Installation

  1. Start Windows NT.
  2. Extract this package onto the hard drive.
  3. Click Start, point to Settings, then click Control Panel.
  4. Double-click the Network icon.
  5. If this is the first time to configure the Network, it will display a Network Configuration dialog box, then proceed to the next step. If not, go to step 15.
    First Network Configuration:
  6. Click the Yes button.
  7. Select Wired to the network.
  8. Click the Next button.
  9. Click the Select from list... button.
  10. Click the Have Disk.. button.
  11. Type the path to the directory that contains the OEMSETUP.inf file in Insert Disk dialog box. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANAMB.
  12. Click the OK button.
  13. Select 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter.
  14. Follow the instructions that follows and reboot the system.
    Add Ethernet to Network Configuration:
  15. Click the Adapters tab.
  16. Click the Add... button.
  17. Click the Have Disk.. button.
  18. Type the path to the directory that contains the OEMSETUP.inf file in Insert Disk dialog box. The default location is C:\DRIVERS\WIN\WLLANAMB.
  19. Click the OK button.
  20. Select 11b/g Wireless LAN Mini PCI adapter.
  21. Click the OK button.
  22. Click Close button.
  23. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
  24. Click Yes when prompted to restart the computer.
  25. Run Setup.exe and follow the instructions.

Determining which version is installed
Wireless LAN Driver and Configuration Utility for Windows 98 and NT
  1. Double click wireless status icon in system tray and open Configuration Utility.
  2. Click the About tab.
