The G74 color monitor screen size is also suitable for handling more information-intensive applications, such as large spreadsheets and complex project management schedules. It has a 17.0-inch FST (Flatter Squarer Tube) Color Monitor with a 15.9-inch (403-mm) viewable image size, and a 0.27 mm dot pitch. A maximum horizontal frequency of 69 kHz permits a top flicker-free mode of 1024 x 768 pels at 85 Hz refresh rate. This mode is also recommended for optimum flicker-free operation. The G74 color monitors also suppresses emissions below MPR-II limits, and are capable of ENERGY STAR and NUTEK power management via DPMS; monitor Plug and Play via DDC; and ISO 9241-3 image quality.

Declared acoustical noise emissions LWAD = 4.5 Bels or less. The noise emission level stated is the declared (upper limit) A-weighted sound power level, in Bels, for a random sample of monitors. All measurements are made in accordance with ANSI S12.10 and reported in conformance with ISO 9296.


The new models meet the Swedish Board for Technical Accreditation (SWEDAC) emission guidelines contained in MPR 1990:10 when tested using the MPR 1990:08 test method.
They also meet the environmental, ergonomics, emissions, energy, and electrical safety requirements of the TCO-99 Environmental Label.


Compliance to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standard 9241, Part 3 for improved image quality is provided when the monitor forms part of an ISO-compliant system.

The G54 and G74 color monitors are designed to operate with system units or video adapters that generate a video output signal that falls within the parameter specifications below:

National Language Support for Europe/Middle East/Africa is a function of the graphic adapter in the system unit and the application or support software.

Software Requirements

The G54 and G74 color monitors feature preset and user-settable display modes. The actual display modes used depend upon the attaching system unit, the operating system, and application software.

  • Not all supported display modes run at the high refresh rates necessary for flicker-free performance. Display modes at lower refresh rates are available for compatibility with older video adapters and system units and will not be ISO-compliant.
  • Supported display modes are a function of the attaching system unit. The full range of display modes available with these monitors may not be available or supported with all combinations of system units, their operating systems, and application software.
  • Horizontal and vertical sync signal timings are critical in order to achieve acceptable screen images. As a consequence,support for all possible variations in H- and V-sync timings for any display mode cannot be assumed.
  • Adjustment of the user controls to enlarge the image to its maximum size requires that the signal timings of the display mode being used fall within the monitor timing specifications.
  • The number of colors shown in any display mode is not limited by the monitor, but depends upon the capabilities of the video adapter in the system unit.
  • Implementation of monitor power management follows the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) Display Power Management Signaling (DPMS) standard. This standard must also be implemented in the attaching system unit hardware and software for monitor power management to be effective. The monitor power management function is invoked only after initiating signals are received from the attached system unit or video adapter. The system implementation must provide user-adjustable, power-down delay periods.
  • Implementation of monitor Plug and Play follows the VESA Display Data Channel (DDC) standard. This standard must also be implemented in the attaching system unit hardware and software for monitor Plug and Play to be effective. Some system units may not be DDC-enabled. In this situation, the user must manually configure the system to obtain optimum performance from the system/graphic adapter/monitor combination.
  • A signal cable adapter (96G1999) is required to permit ISO-compliant attachment to InfoWindow II Modular Display Stations. This adapter is supplied with all InfoWindow II 3483 and 3488 and 3489 Modular Display Stations.
  • Certain functions require the system unit to be similarly configured, so all monitor functions may not be enabled when attached to a particular system unit.

Cable Options
