Symptom

The built-in only Display mode cannot be maintained after rebooting the system.

Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkCentre
  • ThinkStation
  • ThinkServer
  • ThinkPad
  • IdeaPad
  • IdeaCentre

The system is configured with:

  • Any system installed with a DisplayLink USB graphic card driver and using a USB monitor.

 

Applies To:

  • Microsoft Windows 7
  • Microsoft Windows Vista
  • Microsoft Windows XP

Additional Information:

This behavior is working as designed.  All DisplayLink devices have the same behavior.  If the user configures the USB monitor to turn off, then unplugs it and then plugs it into system, the monitor will remain off.  The reboot behavior is the same as unplugging and then plugging-in again.

To re-enable the monitor, see the Solution section below.

Solution

The user should configure the monitor from the Driver menu after rebooting the system.

Limitations

The built-in only Display mode cannot be maintained after rebooting when using the ThinkVision LT1421 wide screen.
