Symptom When hard disk drives that are hot-added (i.e. inserted while Microsoft Windows is running) the user may get a prompt stating the drive is unformatted, even though the hard disk drive is formatted and contains valid data. In certain cases on computers running File and Folder Encryption, hard disk drives that are hot-added (i.e. inserted while Windows is running) might not be properly recognized, and might appear to Windows as being unformatted. Affected configurations Any of the following IBM systems running Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP configured with IBM Client Security Software and File and Folder Encryption and the file system type on the c: drive is not the same as the file system on the hot-swapped hard disk drive: - ThinkCentre (type 8185, 8187, 8188, 8189, 8183, 8184)
- ThinkPad (type 2660, 2662, 2647, 2652, 2653, 2656, 2654, 2658, 2659, 2677, 2681, 2683, 2682, 2672, 2373, 2366, 2367, 2648, 2673, 2722, 2723, 2724, 2884, 2885, 2890, 2891, 2374, 2375, 2376, 2379, 1829, 1830, 1831, 1832, 1833, 1836, 1840, 1841)
