Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter (45K5296) - Cannot retain LCD only setting after restart in Windows 7

Symptom

Attach the Lenovo USB-to-DVI Monitor Adapter (45K5296) to a system and setup the display mode as mirror mode. Change the display mode to local LCD only and the change succeeds. When you restart the system, the display mode jumps back to mirror mode.
