Missing desktop Icon and shortcuts for Client Security version 3.0 - ThinkPad General
Symptom
Running "CreateOEMDesktopFolder.exe" does not add Symantec Home and Office Networking Wizard inside the desktop icon folder of the United States version of Symantec Client Security version 3.0.

Running "CreateOEMDesktopFolder.exe" does not create either a desktop icon folder or three shortcuts for any of the DBCS language versions of Symantec Client Security version 3.0.

Affected configurations
All ThinkPad systems running Microsoft Windows XP.

Solution
For US versions:
  • Manually copy c:\ibmtools\apps\scs\Symantec Home and Office Networking Wizard.lnk to c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Symantec Client Security.

For Japanese and other DBCS versions:

  • Manually create a folder called C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Symantec Client Security, and then manually copy c:\ibmtools\apps\scs\*.lnk to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop\Symantec Client Security.
