IBM Rescue and Recovery™ with Rapid Restore™ - "Access Denied" message may appear after restoring to a hard disk drive greater than 32GB

Symptom
During a restore to a hard disk drive greater than 32GB, a FAT32 partition will be converted to NTFS. The NTFS permissions may be set incorrectly and deny access to certain files.

Affected configuration
IBM systems supported by IBM Rescue and Recovery with Rapid Restore, running Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP, configured with IBM Rapid Restore Ultra

Solution
To reset the NTFS attributes to those specified follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, then click Run.
  2. Type cacls c:\*.* /T /E /C /G Everyone:F, then press the Enter key.
