"Unauthorized access logged" error message on Norton Antivirus 2005 - ThinkPad General
Symptom
A number of messages listed as "Unauthorized access logged" for the file Qctray.exe appear in the Norton AntiVirus or Norton Internet Security Activity log, under Symantec Resource Protector.

Affected configurations
ThinkCentre(all), ThinkPad (all): The defect occurs on all languages and all machines tested

Solution
Symantec Resource Protector is working as designed. It limits access to Symantec processes by external programs, including Qctray.exe - part of the Access Connections Utility that is bundled with ThinkPad and ThinkCentre computers.

Symantec is working with Lenovo to modify the behavior of Qctray.exe so it can perform the required system function without generating the logged error messages. In the meantime, ending the Qctray.exe process does not stop the Access Connections Utility program from functioning, so it is safe to ignore the Activity log entry for this file.

Additional information
Symantec Resource Protector (SymProtect) prevents modification or deletion of Symantec files, processes, and registry keys by unauthorized applications. Authorized applications have full access to Symantec files.
