Fingerprint reader has problems accepting input - ThinkPad
Symptom
When the system is plugged in to the AC adapter the system will emit a very high pitched whine that is clearly audible.

Affected configuration
Any ThinkPad system with a Fingerprint reader may be affected by this symptom.

Solution

An older level of the Fingerprint reader could receive interference from some high power radio band transmitters. This failure is most easily seen by users located very close to an AM radio band tower. To resolve this issue, the Fingerprint reader must be replaced with the new level card. Contact service and support to arrange for the replacement.
