Running Microsoft Windows Updates on Lenovo computer systems fails
Symptom

The windows update installation fails to complete.  Upon failure, the windows updates are reverted to the previous configuration.  Repeating the windows updates will result in the same failure to update the system.  The system will display the error code "80071A90".

 

Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkPad
  • ThinkCentre 
  • ThinkStation
  • ThinkServer
  • Idea Tablet
  • IdeaPad
  • IdeaCentre

 

Applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 7

 

Solution

The user should install the KB2647753 only and then repeat the windows updates.
