While using Presentation Director with an image size less than the native resolution of the ThinkPad, a black border is seen around the image on the LCD. Screen expansion is not working.

Set the ThinkPad LCD as the primary display for use with Presentation Director. This can be done on a new scheme on the Display Settings page, where resolutions, color quality, and refresh rates are also selected. For "Display Device for Movie Playback," the default is External Monitor or Projector. Change this by selecting "ThinkPad LCD." In an existing scheme, this setting can be edited by selecting the Display tab and making the same choice. The problem with Advanced Display Properties not having ATI functions can be cleared on the Display Properties "Settings" tab. The display shown under the window with display icons has probably been set to "(2) (Multiple Monitors) on ATI MOBILITY FIRE GL T2." The ATI functions will be available when the other display is selected. Alternatively, you can double-click the icon for the primary display and bring up the Advanced ATI functions. Another symptom of having the secondary display selected is that the resolution will be reported as 640 x 480 x 8-bit color, even though the screen is obviously using a higher resolution. The default configurations for Presentation Director for use with a projector set the ThinkPad display to secondary. For system with ATI video chips, this causes a loss of functionality available through Advanced Display Properties - such as Theater Mode and screen expansion. Users may not switch back to Factory Default ThinkPad Display after their presentation. This will leave the ThinkPad set as secondary display. When the user tries to go to Advanced Display Properties to check driver levels or set Theater Mode, none of the ATI special function tabs will be available. |
