Optical drive intermittently will not eject - ThinkPad

Symptom

The optical drive (cdrom, dvd, multi burner) may not eject when you press the eject button on the drive.

Affected configurations

The following ThinkPad System with CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Multi Burner, CD-RW, DVD-RWdrive running Microsoft Windows Vista or XP may be affected by this symptom:

Solution

For Windows XP and Vista 32 bit, update to the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver, 8.2.4.1005 or later. (Release Date: 2008/07/22)
