Symptom

Leaving a card or cards in the PCMCIA (PC Card) or Compact Flash (CF) slot(s) on your ThinkPad system that extend outside of the card slot, could cause damage to the system board when placed into a bag or briefcase for transport, or when placed into a box for shipping.

Affected Configuration

Any ThinkPad system with PC Card slots and any ThinkPad X21, X22, X23, X30, or X31 system with PC Card or CF slots with any cards that extend outside of the card slot

Solution

Remove any PC Card or CF cards that extend outside of the card slot before placing your ThinkPad into a bag or briefcase. This will help prevent damage to the system board of your ThinkPad system.
