Blue screen (system hang or reboot) when Safely Remove Hardware applet is opened with Windows XP SP1 - ThinkPad A31/p, T30, T40/p, X30, X31 with ThinkPad Dock
Symptom
When double-clicking Safely Remove Hardware applet on the task tray with ThinkPad Dock, Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) may cause Bluescreen ( Bug check 0xFE). Also, right-click Safely Remove Hardware applet on the task tray and click Safely Remove Hardware popup may result in Bluescreen.

Affected configurations
Any of the ThinkPad models list below could be effected when using a ThinkPad Dock and running Windows XP with SP1.
  • ThinkPad A31, A31p
  • ThinkPad T30, T40, T40p
  • ThinkPad X30,X31

Solution
Please apply the 810400 package from the following URL.

Error 0xFE Occurs When You Start the "Safely Remove Hardware" Utility on a Docked Portable Computer (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329581)

This problem occurs after Windows XP SP1 is installed.
