How to get to a command prompt in Windows

A command prompt typically looks like this:

To get to a command prompt:

Microsoft Windows Vista
  1. Click Start.
  2. In the "Start Search" field, type cmd or command, then press Enter. The command prompt window will be displayed.

Windows XP, 2000, and NT
  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Run...
  3. Type cmd or command, then press Enter. The command prompt window will be displayed.

Run Window:

Windows ME, 98, and 95
  1. Click Start.
  2. Click Run...
  3. Type command, then press Enter. The command prompt window will be displayed.
