Dolby Advanced Audio does not start after updating the Realtek audio driver.



If the audio driver from the Realtek Web site, not Lenovo’s, is installed in the system, the Dolby Advanced Audio may not start and may display the below error message.

This issue may be caused by the version mismatch between the Dolby Advanced Audio and Realtek audio driver.  As the Realtek audio driver downloaded from the Realtek’s web site does not consider the support for Dolby Advanced Audio, do not use this.

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkPad

Affected Systems (machine types, model types):

  • T430, T430i, T430s, T430si
  • T530, T530i
  • W530
  • X230, X230i, X230 Tablet, X230i Tablet
  • X1 Carbon (Type 34xx)

The user should utilize the Realtek High Definition audio driver located on the Lenovo eSupport site at the following URL:
