LCD Panel Service Replacement Guide - ThinkCentre M90z

The servicer may order a FRU LCD, but receive one of two different vendor LCDs.  When removing the one vendor LCD, the servicer will be looking for the mounting screw holes to be located in the same location.  According to the picture below, there are two different locations to mount a Samsung and to mount a LG.

Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkCentre M90z (type 3265, 0800, 3091, 3373, 3429, 3650, 3678, 4285, 5205, 5248, 1195, 0870, 2471, 0852, 2557)

Follow the steps below to process the LCD panel replacement:

Step 1:

Please click here to download the M90z Hardware Maintenance Manual.

Step 2:

Go to the Hardware Maintenance Manual, "Chapter 8. Replacing FRUs", section "Replacing the LCD panel".

Step 3:

Identify the panel brand according to the part number matrix list below:

Brand Part number FRU number
Samsung 71Y9070 45K6443
LG 71Y9071 45K6443

Step 4:

When installing the LCD panel, place the main bracket over the LCD panel and make sure the four screw holes in the main bracket align with those in the LCD panel as shown in the following pictures.  Reinstall the four screws that secure the LCD panel to the main bracket.  NOTE: First partially tighten all four screws and then fully tighten them.  This will allow the four screws to be installed correctly.
