DisplayPort (DP) may be disabled and fail to provide video output - ThinkCentre M58, M58p

Using a PCI-e adapter in the PCI-e x16 slot will disable the system's DisplayPort.

Affected configurations

Any of the following systems, but not limited to the following systems:

  • ThinkCentre M58
  • ThinkCentre M58p

Note: The system's PCI-Express x16 slot is populated with an express adapter.


None. Do not replace any hardware for this issue. This is working as designed.


This is a limitation of the Intel Q45 chipset series.
