BIOS update utility for DOS - ThinkServer TS430

 

Warning: There are two versions of BIOS image included in the package.

  • Version 2.30 is compatible with machines of which the current BIOS version is 2.30 or lower.
  • Version 3.60 is compatible with machines of which the current BIOS version is 3.20 or higher.

The batch file will automatically detect and update the right version of BIOS image which is compatible with your machine.

This BIOS update package enables you to update the server BIOS.

Supported systems
  • ThinkServer TS430 (type 0387, 0388, 0389, 0390, 0391, 0392, 0393, 0441)
Supported operating system
  • DOS
Downloading the package
  1. Click the file link to download the file from the Web page.
  2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded file.
Installation Instructions

To update the server BIOS using this BIOS update package, do the following:

Attention: Do not turn off your server when updating the BIOS, otherwise the BIOS will fail to be updated and the system will fail to restart.

  1. Download the package. Then, extract the package into a DOS bootable USB device; 
  2. Insert the bootable USB device into the USB port of the server to be updated. power on the server and press F12 to select the USB device as the boot device to enter DOS and enter the package folder.
  3. Start the update process according to below cases:
    1. If the current BIOS version is 2.30 or lower, please run the Step1.bat to start the update process. When there is "[SDP Message]:Version Control is done, Please Reboot System" shown, the whole update process is complete .
    2. If the current BIOS version is 3.60 or higher, please run the Step1.bat to start the update process. When there is "[SDP Message]:Version Control is done, Please Reboot System" shown, the whole update process is complete .
    3. If the current BIOS version is 3.20 «3.50 , please run the Step1.bat to start the update process. When there is "[SDP Message]:Please execute <<Step2.bat>> to restore BIOS Setting"  shown, please reboot sytem and enter the package folder then run the Step2.bat.
      When there is message"Script file imported successfully" shown, the whole update process is complete .

Notice 1: At the first time after you flash BIOS ,system may reboot automatically when boot to device or enter RAID WebBIOS. It is normal.

Notice 2: After BIOS update process is complete, you may want to update the SMBIOS information so that you can run the VPD.bat.

When VPD.bat is run:

  • 1 If 'y' is pressed, then will be prompted to enter in the MTM code.
  • 2 Once validated, user will be prompted if want to enter serial number info 
    • 2a - If 'y' is pressed, then will be prompted to enter in the serial number. 
  • 3 Once validated, user will be prompted if want to enter system UUID info 3
    • a - If 'y' is pressed, then will be prompted to enter UUID.
  • 4  Once validated, user will be prompted if want to enter chassis Asset Tag info
    • 4a - If 'y' is pressed, then will be prompted to enter Asset Tag.
