How to run embedded Lenovo diagnostics on newer ThinkPad systems.
Symptom

Lenovo diagnostics has been embedded on newer ThinkPad systems. These diagnostics are located in the system firmware and should be run first when system issues occur.

 

Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

ThinkPad:

  • L430, L530, T430, T430i, T430s, T430si, T530, T530i, W530, X131e, X230, X230 Tablet, and X1 Carbon (Type 34xx)

 

Additional Information

To launch the diagnostics, the user should press F10 during the boot sequence and this will launch the Lenovo diagnostics.

Additionally, the user can press F12 during the boot sequence to access the Boot Menu. Then press Tab to select Application Menu and arrow down to Lenovo Diagnostics and select it by pressing Enter.
