When using Quad display setup and using the Common User Interface (CUI) to rotate the onboard displays, the discrete video displays may go blank - ThinkStation, ThinkCentre
Symptom

For a Quad display system, if the user rotates the onboard display using the VGA CUI, the user will see the discrete graphics display go blank. If the user rotates the onboard display using the operating system user interface, the discrete video displays should not be affected.

Affected configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems which is configure with Microsoft Windows 7 32bit and 64bit.

  • ThinkStation E30, E31
  • ThinkCentre M71e, M81, M91, M91, M82, M92, M92p

Applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows 7 32bit and 64bit

Additional Information:

The system is configured with Quad Display; Intel Series 6  & 7 Graphics.

Solution

None. Do not replace any hardware for this issue.

Limitation

This is Quad display limitation for the Intel 6 & 7 series

Workaround

the user can rotate all these displays in Windows UI, then the discrete video displays will not be affected.
