Sound quality is degraded while using Dragon Assistant application.



The "audio" setting in "Lenovo Settings" automatically sets the Dolby sound profile to VoIP while the Dragon Assistant application is activated. This setting will disable the rich sound effect for music, movies, or games.

Affected Configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

  • ThinkPad

Affected Systems (machine types, model types):

  • X1 Carbon (3446, 3448, 3460, 3462, 3463, 3443, 3444)
  • T430u (3351, 3352, 3353, 6273, 8614)
Applies to
  • Microsoft Windows 8
  1. Quit the Dragon Assistant application if it is running.
    1. Go to the Desktop.
    2. Right-click the UP arrow button.
    3. Right-click the Dragon Assistant application icon.
    4. Left-click on Quit.

  2. Click on the “Settings” tile on the Start screen.

  3. Click on the “Audio” setting.

  4. Turn off the “Optimize sound effects for voice communications.”

  5. Click the Dragon Assistant application to run again.

The issue occurs on systems that the Dragon Assistant application is installed.
