This package installs the software iSCT (Intel Smart Connect Technology).

Installation Instruction

Notes:

  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
Manual Update

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

[Downloading file]

  1. Select the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click Save.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click Save.
    A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

[Extracting file]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with an administrator account.
  2. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
  3. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click it.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. In the Select Destination Location window, click Next. If you would like to select a different folder, click Browse.
  6. In the Ready to Install window, click Install. All the necessary files will be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.

[Installing files]

  1. Make sure the checkbox next to "Install ..... now" is checked and click Finish.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete installation and restart the computer.

Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.

Silent Installation

This is for system administrators' use only.

  1. Refer to the Manual Install section, and download and extract the file.
  2. In the step 11 of the Installing files section, uncheck the checkbox next to "Install ..... now", and then select Finish to cancel installation.
  3. At the command line, execute setup.exe with the -s option.
    Example: [Path where the files were extracted]\setup -s
Enabling iSCT

If you enable the iSCT features for the 1st time, you need to complete the iSCT Configuration Wizard.

[Windows 8 or later]

  1. Right-click/Swipe in from the bottom edge of the touchscreen on the Start screen.
  2. Select All apps., and select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.

[Windows 7]

  1. Click Start, and select All Programs.
  2. Select Intel, and select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.
  1. Select OK at the message screen of "You need to complete the Configuration
    Wizard before using this feature". iSCT Configuration Wizard will be started.
  2. Select Next.
  3. Select the Disabled button to change to Enabled.
  4. Select Next.
  5. Set the update frequency using slider, and select Next.
  6. Set Start and End time of Extended Power Saving time.
  7. Select Finish.
    To confirm the setting check the "Open the configuration utility", and
    select Finish.
To enable iSCT

In order to enable iSCT, follow the instruction below.

[Windows 8 or later]

  1. Right-click/Swipe in from the bottom edge of the touchscreen on the Start screen.
  2. Select All apps., and select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.

[Windows 7]

  1. Click Start, and select All Programs.
  2. Select Intel, and select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.
  1. Check the checkbox next to "Enable Always Updated".
  2. Move the slide bar to set update frequency.
  3. Select the Advanced tab.
  4. Set Start and End Time of Extended Power Savings.
  5. Close Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology Settings.

To know more information, select the Help button, then select Topics.

Uninstallation Instruction

[Mouse and Keyboard]

  1. Start Windows and logon with an administrator account.
  2. Hold down the Windows logo key and press X to open a menu at the lower-left area of the screen.
  3. Select Programs and Features from the menu.
  4. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1 x64, and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation and restart the computer.

[Touch]

  1. Start Windows and logon with an administrator account.
  2. From the Start screen, select Desktop.
  3. Swipe in from the right edge of the touchscreen to display the charm bar.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Select Control Panel.
  6. Make sure "View by Category" is selected, and select Uninstall a program.
  7. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1 x64/x86, and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change.
  8. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation and restart the computer.
    Note: Make sure to restart the computer.

[Windows 7]

  1. Start Windows and logon with an administrator account.
  2. Select Start, then select Control Panel.
  3. Make sure "View by Category" is selected, and select Uninstall a program.
  4. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1 x64/x86, and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change.
  5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete uninstallation and restart the computer.
Determining which version is installed

[Windows 8 or later]

[Mouse and Keyboard]

  1. Hold down the Windows logo key and press X to open a menu at the lower-left area of the screen.
  2. Select Programs and Features from the menu.
  3. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1 x64.
  4. Check the product version in the Details Pane shown at the bottom of screen. If not shown, select Organize, select Layout, then select Details Pane.

[Touch]

  1. From the Start screen, select Desktop.
  2. Swipe in from the right edge of the touchscreen to display the charm bar.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Control Panel.
  5. Make sure "View by Category" is selected, and select Uninstall a program.
  6. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1 x64/x86.
  7. Check the product version in the Details Pane shown at the bottom of screen.
    If not shown, select Organize, select Layout, then select Details Pane.

[Windows 7]

  1. Select Start, then select Control Panel.
  2. Make sure "View by Category" is selected, and select Uninstall a program.
  3. Select Organize, select Layout, then select Details Pane. The Details Pane
    will be shown at the bottom of screen.
  4. Select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology 4.1 x64/x86.
  5. Check the product version in the Details Pane.
Limitations
  • "30 Day Standby" of Power Manager and iSCT functions exclusively. When iSCT is enabled, "30 Day Standby" of
    Power Manager is disabled automatically.
  • You can check "30 Day Standby" state of Power Manager with the following steps.

[Windows 8 or later]

[Mouse and Keyboard]

  1. Right-click / [Touch] press and hold on the Start screen.
  2. Select All apps., and select Lenovo Settings.
  3. Select Power.
  4. There is "30 Day Standby" setting.
    If it is grayed-out, "30 Day Standby" is disabled.
    If not and the setting is On, "30 Day Standby" is enabled.

[Windows 7]

  1. Select Lenovo Battery on the task bar at the desktop screen to start Power Manager.
  2. Select Switch to: Advanced.
  3. Select the Global Power Settings tab.
  4. If "Enable 30 Day Standby" is grayed-out, "30 Day Standby" is disabled.
    If not grayed-out and it is checked, "30 Day Standby" is enabled.

In order to enable "30 Day Standby" of Power Manager, disable iSCT with the following steps.

[Mouse and Keyboard]

  1. Right-click / [Touch] press and hold on the Start screen.
  2. Select All apps., and select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.

[Windows 7]

  1. Click Start, and select All Programs.
  2. Select Intel, and select Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology.
  1. Uncheck the checkbox next to "Always Updated".
  2. Close Intel(R) Smart Connect Technology Settings window.
