Symptom

If you install the Lenovo ADD2 DVI-I Video Monitor Connection Adapter (Service FRU part number: 39J9334; Option part number 73P2516) and attempt to view the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver graphic properties, the selection for Extended Desktop is not present. The Intel 829xx Express Chipset Family is either the "G", "GV" or "GZ".

To determine which Intel 829xx Express Chipset is in your system, you will need to view the System Information, by following these steps:

  1. Click Start, select All Programs, select Accessories, select System Tools, then click System Information. The System Information windows appears.
  2. Under the System summary, click the + next to Components, then click Display. On the right side window under Item, find the Adapter Type and/or Adapter Description. Here is graphic of what you may see.

Adapter information

Note: The 829xx Intel Express Chipset Family ending in "G" can invoke the Extended Desktop option while the “GV” will not have this option. This is working as designed. Here is a graphic of the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver with Extended Desktop option.
