This package installs the software (Intel SATA Controller AHCI Driver) to enable the following device.

  • Standard SATA AHCI Controller

If this package has been installed, updating (overwrite-installing) this package will fix problems, add new functions, or expand functions as noted below.

This program is language independent and can be used with any language system.

Notes
  • Microsoft* .NET Framework 3.0, 3.5, or 4.5 is required to be installed on the system.
Installation Instructions

Notes:

  • If your computer runs satisfactorily now, it may not be necessary to update the software. To determine if you should update the software, refer to the Version Information section.
Manual Install

This section assumes to use Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer.

[Downloading file]

  1. Click once on the underlined file name. Once this is done, some pop-up windows will appear.
  2. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  3. In the window to choose Run or Save, click the Save button.
  4. Choose the folder you would like to download the file to and click the Save button. A different window will appear and the download will begin and complete. Once the download has completed, there may or may not be a message stating that the download completed successfully.

[Extracting file]

  1. Make sure to be logged on with administrative account.
  2. Locate the folder where the file was downloaded.
  3. Locate the file that was downloaded and double-click / double-tap it.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen.
  5. In the Select Destination Location window, select Next. If you would like to select a different folder, select Browse.
  6. In the Ready to Install window, select Install. The file will begin to be extracted to the folder selected in the step 9.

[Installing files]

[Mouse and Keyboard]

  1. Hold down the Windows logo key and press X to open a menu at the lower-left area of the screen.Right-click Computer, and then select Properties.
  2. Select Device Manager from the menu.
  3. Double-click/double-tap the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers category.
  4. Double-click/double-tap either of the following devices;
    • Standard SATA AHCI Controller
    • Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
  5. Select the Driver tab, then select Update Driver...
  6. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  7. Select Browse..., then point to driver location specified in step 9.
  8. Make sure the checkbox next to "Include subfolders" is checked and select Next.
  9. Select Close when the installation has completed.
  10. Select Yes to restart the computer.

[Touch]

  1. Press the Windows logo button to display the Start screen.
  2. Swipe in from the bottom edge of the touchscreen to display the App bar.
  3. Select All Apps.
  4. Select Control Panel.
  5. Select System Security.
  6. Select Device Manager in the System section.
  7. Double-tap the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers category.
  8. Double-tap either of the following devices;
    • Standard SATA AHCI Controller
    • Intel(R) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller
  9. Select the Driver tab, then select Update Driver...
  10. Select Browse my computer for driver software.
  11. Select Browse..., then point to driver location specified in step 9.
  12. Make sure the checkbox next to "Include subfolders" is checked and select Next.
  13. Select Close when the installation has completed.
  14. Select Yes to restart the computer.

Finally delete the file saved in the step 4.

 

Determining which version is installed
