Accessing Microsoft Windows 8 System Recovery during Startup with ThinkPad Tablet 2

Symptom

How to access the Microsoft Windows 8 System Recovery Options on a ThinkPad Tablet 2 during Startup.

Affected Configurations

The above symptom is associated with, but not limited to, the following systems:

Solution

In order to access the ThinkPad Tablet 2 System Recovery Option menu from Startup, the system must be completely powered down.  As the system is powered up, press and hold the Power button and then immediately begin tapping the Volume Down button until a “Please Wait” message displays underneath the Lenovo Splash.



The user will see a display with a language selection followed by a keyboard selection.  Then, the user will have multiple options.  The user will need to navigate to the Troubleshoot option to view different Recovery Options, such as Refresh and Reset Your PC, and some more advanced options such as System Restore.
