Symptom

When the user connects the to Lenovo DisplayPort to VGA Monitor Cable (Option P/N: 57Y4393, FRU P/N: 57Y4141 or 45J9524, Manufacturing P/N: 57Y4140) to the CRT monitor VGA cable, they will not see video on the CRT until Microsoft Windows loads the video drivers.

Affected configurations

The above symptom may occur on the following systems but not limited to only these listed below.

  • ThinkCentre A58, A63, M58, M58e, M58p

Applies to:

  • Microsoft Windows Vista
  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Solution

None. Do not replace any hardware for this issue.

Limitation

This is an EDID failure from the CRT monitor. The video card treats a DisplayPort to VGA Monitor Cable as a standard DisplayPort device. Therefore, when the video card fails to receive EDID information in a timely manner from the CRT, the CRT monitor will be blank until the operating system loads the video driver.
