      This package is the Rescue and Recovery Critical Patch program to fix the Application Error: "R2R.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." error that occurs after applying Windows Update (KB917422).

      The cause of this error message is an incompatibility between Microsoft Windows Update KB917422 and Rescue and Recovery 3.10.0017 or 3.10.0022.

      Downloading the package
      1. Click the file links to download the files from the Web page.
      2. When prompted, select a drive and directory in which to save the downloaded files.
      Installing the package
      1. Log on to your system using an operating system account with administrative privileges.
      2. Click Start, select Find or Search, then click Files and folders.
      3. Type rnr31cp5.exe in the search field, then click Find Now. This will locate the file you just downloaded.
      4. Double-click the rnr31cp5.exe icon. The "Welcome" window will open.
      5. Click Next. The "License Agreement" window will open.
      6. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement.
      7. Click Next. The "Ready to Install the Program" window will open.
      8. Click Install. After the InstallShield wizard installs Critical Patch, the "InstallShield Wizard Completed" window will open.
      9. Click Finish.
      Determining which version of Rescue and Recovery is installed
      1. Start Windows.
      2. Click Start, select Programs (or All Programs), select ThinkVantage, and then select Rescue and Recovery.
      3. Click Help, then select About Rescue and Recovery.
      4. Confirm the Version information displays "3.10.0017.00" or "3.10.0022.00".
